The main systems used to clean effluents and percolated liquids are:

• biological lagoons - purify the water with floating and fixed root waterplants, like waterhyacints and Tifas, in shallow lagoons. Natural swamps may be used with the introduction of floristic complexes tipical of swamps.
• root complexes - make use of fixed root waterplants, which are embedded in a porous medium, which makes the filtering of the effluent possible.
